What NDIS Changes Mean for Your Physiotherapy – And How We’re Responding

Important Update: Changes to NDIS Physiotherapy Services from July 1

From 1 July 2025, the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is introducing changes to the way therapy supports, including physiotherapy, are delivered and billed. These updates are part of the NDIS’s broader effort to create a more sustainable, transparent system — and Equip Rehabilitation is ready to adapt.

While the way we bill services will change slightly behind the scenes, our commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care remains unchanged.

what's changing?

The most noticeable updates relate to:

  • How travel is billed for mobile physiotherapy appointments

  • Session time increments, which will now be based on shorter, more flexible blocks

  • A reduction in the hourly rate set by the NDIS for physiotherapy services

These changes aim to improve efficiency and value within the scheme, but rest assured: you’ll still receive the same level of personalised care and support from our team.

How Equip Rehabilitation Is Evolving

We recognise that recent changes to NDIS therapy budgets have made it more important than ever to provide services that are both effective and value-driven.

In response, we’re evolving our care model to include:

  • Gym-based physiotherapy programs
  • Small group sessions designed to maintain high training intensity while reducing individual costs
  • Evidence-based, goal-focused care in a supportive and social setting

This shift allows us to deliver greater value and improved outcomes — especially for clients working on strength, balance, mobility, and functional independence.

One-on-one sessions and mobile services remain available where appropriate. Our team will work with you to find the right balance based on your goals and preferences.

What This Means for You

If you receive mobile physiotherapy:

  • We’ll continue to travel to you, as always.
  • We’ll ensure any travel costs are billed fairly and in line with the new NDIS guidelines. This includes a reduced hourly rate for travel time and a separate charge for non-labour travel costs, such as distance travelled.
  • Sessions will continue to be tailored to your specific goals and needs.

If you’re looking to get more from your therapy budget:

  • We’re offering gym-based and group physiotherapy sessions as a cost-effective, evidence-based alternative
  • Group sessions are ideal for clients aiming to build strength, coordination, or endurance in a social, supportive environment

We’ll help you determine if this model is right for you

Our Ongoing Commitment

At Equip Rehabilitation, we’re committed to providing consistent, high-quality care, no matter how the NDIS evolves.

We will continue to:

  • Deliver services that are individualised, goal-oriented, and effective
  • Maintain open and honest communication about service delivery and funding
  • Ensure you receive continuity of care by investing in staff retention strategies — so you can keep working with therapists who know and understand your needs

As we navigate these changes, we’re working hard to ensure our business model remains sustainable, so we can continue to be here for you — now and into the future.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss your current therapy plan, please reach out to us. We’re here to support you every step of the way.
